Dr. Kreider Speaks Out
Part 1: Introduction
by Randy Alley
During the May 1829 semiannual
meeting of the Ohio State Medical Society, charges of quackery were brought forth against
Dr. John M. Shang. Dr. Shang belonged to a group called the "Steam
Confederation" who promoted the Thomsonian plan over "natural means of
treatment."1 As a result of the proceedings, Dr. Shang was removed from
membership in the Society and forbidden to associate himself with it. The charges against
Dr. Shang were signed by Dr. Michael Zimmerman Kreider. Who was Dr. Kreider?More |
